Country Music Attitude

The monthly publication ‘Country Music Attitude’ has now reached its tenth year. Ten… is said to be the age of reason. For us, it in the age of a passion without limits. At Country Music Attitude, we are not on and off fans of the ‘real thing’. We are not a little or moderately ‘country’, but ‘country’ to the roots!

The decision to create this review was taken ten years ago during an evening at a country line dance. We overheard a dancer saying to one of his friends : “You know what, somebody told me about a country music singer, a Johnny Cash I think.” This sparked off our reaction, we had to educate these people! This is how it all began, and it meant we had to organise rounds of talks with an entertaining slant. These have been going on for ten years now in every corner of France. Could it be said we were some sort of country missionaries? Yes, to a certain extent. A country music attitude? Yes, it is. And even a bit higher, to breathe in a better air, a country music altitude…

What we believe in is simple : to serve the most beautiful music in the world. In a humble but firm way. These characteristics have been rewarded as we have seen the number of our subscribers increase every year, without giving in to passing fashions.

We usually say that country music is not music, dance, honky-tonks, a Stetson, a pair of boots, recipes, Jack Daniel’s, books, films, etc : it is all of these put together. It’s a way of being, a state of mind. All in all, an attitude.

What makes us proud is not only to have subscribers in France, of course, but also in Belgium, Switzerland, Morocco, Algeria, Israel, Quebec, and last but not least, in the USA. Some people, who do not know the press well enough (Country Music Attitude is written by professional journalists), tell us : “Why isn’t your review on sale at newsstands?” The answer is as simple as the question : unless it is supported by advertisers, there is no possible existence for a country music review at a newsstand.

To sum things up, there is no other music than country music and so, more than ever, it is ‘country ‘till we die’!
